Astronomik MC Clear Glass for Canon EOS DSLR camera conversions

The MC clear glass filter replaces the original filter of the Canon EOS cameras, thus allowing the full usage of the CMOS sensor for astrophotography. Notably the red sensitivity is clearly extended. The filter is a fine-optically polished and multicoated special glass. The glass has no filter effect, it blocks neither IR nor UV.

What is to keep in mind when working with a modified Canon EOS camera with the Astronomik MC Clear Glass Filter:

• Astrophotography with purely reflective optics without lenses or correctors, for example with a TS-Optics RC telescope, is possible without restrictions. You can use the complete spectrum of the light.
• Astrophotography with camera lenses, refractors or mirror systems with corrector need an IR blocking filter, as the optics is insufficiently corrected for infrared light. Nebula filters usually have integrated IR blocking.
• For daytime photography, you need the Astronomik OWB Clip Filter which directly fits into the camera body and also can be removed directly. This filter compensates for the extended red sensitivity, the photographs have natural colors. A suitable filter can be found in the accessories section.
